I am my favorite project

Welcome, fellow seekers of self-discovery and personal growth! Today, I want to share with you a mantra that has become my guiding principle in life: “I am my favorite project.” This simple yet powerful statement encapsulates the essence of my journey towards embracing resilience, reinvention, and self-expression. Join me as I delve into what it means to prioritize oneself, cultivate a mindset of possibility, and embark on a journey of self-discovery.

Embracing Resilience:

My journey begins with a backdrop of learning disabilities and a challenging childhood. Despite facing setbacks and obstacles along the way, I’ve learned the invaluable lesson of resilience. Each day presents a new opportunity to overcome challenges, grow stronger, and redefine what’s possible. By embracing resilience, I’ve transformed adversity into opportunity and discovered the true strength that lies within.

Reinventing Yourself:

From film development to carpentry in the Airforce, and now as an artist empowering women through carpentry workshops, my career path has been anything but linear. Through each transition, I’ve embraced the power of reinvention and discovered new passions and talents within myself. Reinventing oneself isn’t about starting over—it’s about embracing change, taking risks, and evolving into the best version of yourself.

Crafting Time

In today’s fast-paced world, finding time for oneself can seem like a luxury. However, I’ve come to realize that prioritizing self-care and personal growth is essential for living a fulfilling life. By treating time as another form of art to be crafted and molded, I’ve discovered ways to carve out precious moments for self-reflection, creativity, and exploration amidst life’s demands.

Public Art

Created community based public art, where the public was invited to create small pieces that would be installed on a larger work of art.  The participants would be able to point directly to the piece they created.  The works of art created an immediate sense of pride and sense of place and ownership.  The works of art were transforming to the individuals, to the community,  and to the city.

Women's Carpentry

I teach a women’s carpentry workshop every month.  Students work at their own pace to build whatever they can dream of.  They learn how to use tools but moreover they learn that they can do anything.  The answer to all questions is “I Can”.  Together we make all things possible.

Make art from your yard

Never think you lack materials to be creative.  Or think to be creative you need lots of money or resources.  I use my yard to make ink, fibers for paper, materials for printing and dyeing fabrics.

Grow ingredients to Wellness

I create teas, flavored vodkas, Kombuchas, elixirs, and tinctures from my yard.  By growing things according to mother nature’s design I have an endless possibility.

Life is full of possibilities to make Art

I consider everything I do art.  If I’m in the kitchen I am making art.  If I am in the studio and painting I am making art, When I am in the yard and woodshop it is all art.  I am a work of art.

Always Say “You Can”:

Believing in oneself is the foundation of personal growth and success. I’ve adopted a mindset of possibility, where failure is not a setback but a stepping stone towards growth. By saying “I can,” I’ve embraced challenges with confidence and determination, knowing that every experience—whether positive or negative—is an opportunity for learning and growth.

Being the Best You:

True fulfillment comes from being the best version of yourself and making a positive impact on the world around you. I’ve found joy in collaboration, sharing, and attracting positivity into my life. By fostering meaningful connections and embracing my role as a catalyst for change, I’ve discovered the transformative power of authenticity and compassion.

Looking Within Every Day:

Self-discovery is an ongoing journey that requires daily practices of self-reflection, mindfulness, and gratitude. I’ve incorporated daily rituals of meditation, learning, and spiritual nourishment into my routine, allowing me to stay grounded and connected to my innermost desires and aspirations.

Never Stop Growing:

Personal growth knows no bounds—it’s a lifelong journey of discovery, learning, and evolution. I’ve embraced each day as an opportunity for growth, listening to my inner voice and following my passions with dedication and enthusiasm. By staying open to new experiences and embracing change, I’ve cultivated a life filled with purpose, fulfillment, and joy.
